Just got back from BayCon and am madly running around putting things away and processing inventory and sales data, so today will be brief.
We had a great time. We ran the LimFic table with Marvin Neu, Bel Sikes, Sheryl Hayes, Denise Tanaka, Amanda Cherry, Lillian Csernica, RL Merrill, Mike Karpa and Sumiko Saulson, and sold a decent amount of books.
This was the first year for BayCon under new management – Mark and I are charter members of the reorganized con. And for the next two years, WesterCon and BayCon will merge, so we’re hoping for even more good things and readers to check out our books and panels.
On Friday night (pictured) I participated in a four author book launch party. Amanda Cherry MC’d, and Rebecca Partridge, Clara and I (along with Amanda) all read from our new releases. Alas, I didn’t sell any of mine, but it was a fun event nevertheless.
Speaking of new releases, we had an early paperback release for The Death Bringer, the final book in the Tharassas Series. If you don’t want to wait until September 19th to read this, you can still order a copy. Just email me. Thank you to the amazing Steven Radecki at Water Dragon for accomplishing this.
Finally, the panels were great. My personal favorites were the two AI panels I was on – one I had planned for, and one that Rebecca and Marvin dragged me onto because someone was sick. They were fun, informative, and I was so in my element.
There were a few snafus – having registration open at the same time as the Opening Ceremony, understaffing the registration desk, and having so many panels many folks didn’t have time to stop by the dealer room. But overall it was a fun event, and I’m sure all those things will be done better next year.
Next up – Castro Valley Pride, July 20th!
