J. Scott Coatsworth: When did you know you wanted to write, and when did you discover that you were good at it?
Silvia Violet: I wanted to write from the time I was in high school. I started writing seriously in my mid 20s and gained confidence in my work when I got requests for partial or full manuscripts from editors.
JSC: How would you describe your writing style/genre?
SV: The stories I write have strong, believable characters, true romance, and a heavy helping of hot sex.
JSC: What was your first published work? Tell me a little about it.
SV: My first published story was Pilot’s Bargain, one of the three stories that make up Shifters’ Station, which I re-released last year. The story is set on a space station run by genetically altered mercenary soldiers who can shapeshift.
JSC: What’s your writing process?
SV: I write as quickly as I can through the first draft without looking back. My second draft is where I figure out what I’ve got and do major content edits. Then I go through once more before sending the story to beta readers and then on to my editor.
JSC: Tell me one thing hardly anyone knows about you.
SV: When I was 6 years old, I was my school’s May Day Queen.
JSC: Do you write more on the romance side, or the speculative fiction side? Or both? And why?
SV: I am firstly a romance writer but I write in several romance subgenres including paranormal (shapeshifters and vampires) and science fiction.
JSC: What pets are currently on your keyboard, and what are their names? Pictures?
SV: Fortunately, Arlo my 8lb Chihuahua dachshund mix (aka chiweenie) doesn’t sit on my keyboard but he loves to be in my lap while I write.
JSC: Are you a plotter or a pantster?
SV: I’m a pantser. I’m a stickler for an HEA so I know where my story is headed. But at most I have a few scenes in my and a very loose plot framework. I learn the story as I write the first draft.
JSC: If you could create a new holiday, what would it be?
SV: Pajama and Movie Day where you spend the whole day watching movies, eating snacks and never getting dressed.
JSC: What are you working on now, and when can we expect it?
SV: On April 30, I released an erotic contemporary romance, Personal Entanglement, the second book in my Thorne and Dash trilogy. I’m writing the first draft of my next Law and Supernatural Order book, starring a fox shifter who owns a restaurant specializing in fried chicken and a young cop who find him more than a little suspicious.
And now for Silvia’s latest book: Personal Entanglement:
Several months ago Thorne hired Riley as an escort. They fell hard for each other and ultimately made their relationship personal rather than professional. Every moment they spend in bed is pure bliss, but good sex can’t solve all their problems as they struggle to make things work between them. Thorne convinces Riley to move in with him, but their differences in age and income weigh more heavily on Riley once they share a home.
If that weren’t enough, culinary school is turning out to be a disappointment for Riley rather than a dream come true, and he’s considering the daunting prospect of starting his own business. Thorne wants to swoop in and fix everything, but Riley keeps refusing Thorne’s money or advice, feeling like he’s losing control over his own life.
Thorne and Riley will have to rely on their love for each other to help them find the balance between independence and entanglement.

Riley’s mouth dropped open, and it was several seconds before he spoke. “You made me breakfast?”
“I did.”
He glanced at his phone. “Fuck, I don’t even have time for it. If I don’t leave now, I’ll never make the train.”
“A car will be here to pick you up in five minutes. The driver will wait as long as you need him to, and the ride will be much faster than the bus.”
Riley scowled at him. “I can’t afford a car service. You know that.”
“I have an account with them. It will go on my tab.”
“Thorne, we’ve talked about—”
“It’s your first day living here. We’ve both got to adjust to spending weekday mornings together. Just accept the ride.”
Riley looked like he’d protest again, but finally he gave in. “Okay, but this is a one-time thing.”
Thorne nodded. He hoped it wouldn’t be, but he wasn’t going to argue that point when Riley was already upset.
The toaster dinged. Thorne had to reach in to get his bagel out. It barely peeked above the top of the toaster, and he felt like he was playing Operation, dodging the hot sides so he didn’t burn his fingers.
“You’re eating too?” Riley asked.
“Yes, you’ve spoiled me. My stomach now expects food before noon.”
“As well it should.”
“I have to work out even more with all these breakfast calories you’ve foisted on me.”
Riley smiled for the first time that morning. “We had a nice workout last night.”
“We did. I’d much rather work out like that than use the treadmill.”
“I’d much rather stay here and give you a workout than go to class.”
Thorne frowned. “I’m sorry school’s not like you thought it would be.”
“I’m still hoping it will get better.”
“Maybe it will, but if—”
Riley shook his head. “No.”
“You didn’t even let me finish.”
“Thorne, I’ve agreed to living here without paying rent. I’m letting your car service take me to school—this once. I am not taking your money to start a business.”
“You’d take a loan from the bank.”
Riley sighed. “It’s not the same.”
“You could pay me back.”
Riley glanced at the clock on the stove. “I’ve got to go. Can we have this argument later?”
Thorne wasn’t about to let it go for good. “Sure.”
Riley started out the door, but Thorne came around the kitchen bar and grabbed his arm. “You forgot something.”
